Jong H. Lee, M.D., PH.D.

Jong H. (Jonathan) Lee, M.D., Ph.D. is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Jong H. (Jonathan) Lee received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Science at the University of Texas at Austin. During his time performing research in Austin, he accumulated numerous research publications in academic journals to his name and earned the rights to an international patent. After receiving his doctorate, Dr. Lee moved to the Dallas area to earn his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He continued his training by completing an internship in Internal Medicine at the Baylor University Medical Center of Dallas and a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

A board-certified fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Lee has been in private practice in the Dallas area since 2003. He established the Lee Eye Surgery Clinic, P.A. in Carrollton, Texas to provide compassionate, quality, and comprehensive eye care to the North Texas community. As an experienced and well- regarded ophthalmologist by his colleagues, Dr. Lee cares for patients with a wide variety of ophthalmologic ailments: from diseases like cataracts and glaucoma to ocular damage caused by physical trauma and diabetes. He also serves as an Associate Clinical Professor in the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School’s Ophthalmology residency program.

In his time away from the clinic, Dr. Lee enjoys golfing, fishing, solving crossword puzzles, as well as spending time with his family.

Marvin Hsiao, M.D.

Marvin L. Hsiao, M.D. is a Board Certified Comprehensive Ophthalmologist and Cornea/Refractive Surgery Specialist. He is highly skilled in the medical and surgical treatment of all aspects of eye diseases, including cataract, retina, and glaucoma. Dr. Hsiao has a special interest in modern refractive cataract surgery, utilizing the most advanced technologies and lens implants available. Dr. Hsiao has been in practice with Dr. Lee since 2009 and is the co-owner of Lee Eye Surgery Clinic.

In addition to his expertise in cataract surgery, Dr. Hsiao performs corneal refractive surgery, corneal transplant surgery, secondary lens implants, and surgeries for ocular surface diseases. He is specially trained in the management of dry eye syndrome, corneal infections, and various corneal diseases. Dr. Hsiao performs corneal refractive surgery (LASIK, PRK) with All-Laser/Wavefront Optimized technology. He also performs Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery and uses premium intraocular lens implants to minimize the need for glasses after cataract surgery.

Dr. Hsiao received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry from Baylor University. His many undergraduate honors include the election into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Dr. Hsiao then obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He then remained at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center for his residency training in ophthalmology. During his residency training, Dr. Hsiao conducted research projects and presented his findings at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology meetings. Dr. Hsiao then went on to complete a fellowship training in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at the world-renowned Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. While at Jules Stein Eye Institute, Dr. Hsiao served as clinical instructor, training future ophthalmologists, and also as associate refractive surgeon at the UCLA Laser Refractive Center. Dr. Hsiao was highly regarded as both a physician and surgeon during all levels of his training by his mentors and peers. Dr. Hsiao currently serves as Volunteer Assistant Professor at the UT Southwestern Medical Center, teaching cataract surgery to ophthalmology residents

On a personal note, Dr. Hsiao was born in Taipei, Taiwan and moved to Dallas during high school and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. He enjoys spending time away from work with his wife Sheryl, who is an optometrist, and his 3 children. Dr. Hsiao likes to travel the world, cook, and enjoy great food, and he is an amateur DJ of electronic dance music.

George A. Moninger, M.D.

Raised in Dallas, Dr. Moninger attended Bishop Lynch High School. He went on to receive his undergraduate degree at the University of Dallas. From there, he moved on to medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He returned to Dallas for internship and residency at Parkland Hospital and the University Of Texas Southwestern Medical School. From residency, he joined his father-in-law, Dr. Donald Brotherman, in private practice.

Dr. Moninger is married and has three children. Outside of his practice, his favorite activity is spending time and traveling with his wife, Pam, and their children. He spends much of his leisure time outdoors, golfing, fishing, and hunting. He is board certified and has been recognized by his peers as one of the area’s top doctors.

He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Texas Ophthalmology Association, Texas Medical Association, and Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology.

Arun Joseph, M.D.

Dr. Arun Joseph is a board-certified ophthalmologist and Harvard fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist. His primary clinical interest is in glaucoma, and he is specialized in its prevention, diagnosis, and medical and surgical management.

A native of Plano, Dr. Joseph graduated from Plano West Senior High School, subsequently went on to the University of Texas at Austin for his undergraduate studies, and then to medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He completed his medicine internship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and a rigorous ophthalmology residency at the Downstate Medical Center in New York City.

To further advance his training, Dr. Joseph accepted a surgical glaucoma fellowship at Harvard Medical School’s Massachusetts Eye and Ear and Massachusetts General Hospital. He was trained in the full array of interventional glaucoma, including both office-based and surgical laser treatments, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and traditional major glaucoma surgery (tube shunt implantation and trabeculectomy). During his fellowship, he was also mentored by renowned ophthalmologist Dr. Mark Latina, a pioneer in medical lasers and the inventor of selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT). SLT has become one of the most effective treatments for glaucoma, and Dr. Joseph is one of the few specialists in the country to train directly under Dr. Latina.

After completing his fellowship, Dr. Joseph returned home and founded Dallas Glaucoma Specialists in 2018 with the goal of providing premier glaucoma care in his hometown community. In 2019, he became the first surgeon to implant the revolutionary XEN glaucoma stent in Collin County. He believes in a customized approach and having an open discussion with each patient about their glaucoma and, if necessary, appropriate treatment options. His priority is to offer every patient the highest standard of care in a friendly, respectful, and personalized way.

In his spare time, Dr. Joseph enjoys playing golf and passionately supporting Longhorns football.

Zec Shulkin, M.D.

INTERESTS, TECHNIQUES AND TRAINING
A native of Dallas, Dr. Shulkin specializes in diseases of the eyelid and orbit in both children and adults. His interests include thyroid eye disease, the eye socket, eye muscle disorders, droopy eyelids, and tumors of the eyelid and ocular adnexa. Dr. Shulkin’s unique and extensive training allows him to have an in-depth understanding of both the functional and cosmetic needs of his patients. Dr. Shulkin devotes a significant portion of his time to surgical approaches to eye muscle disorders and can help patients who have disabling double vision or a wandering eye. He also performs cosmetic injectable treatments and cosmetic eyelid procedures to help his patients restore a more youthful appearance.

WRITING AND SPEAKING
Dr. Shulkin lectures on all aspects of orbital disease, strabismus, and eye socket disorders, and he has authored several papers for national meetings and journals.

EDUCATION
Dr. Shulkin grew up in Dallas and attended the Akiba Academy and St. Mark’s School of Texas before earning his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas where he was a member of the Texas Cowboys, a prestigious campus service organization. He returned to Dallas to attend medical school at UT Southwestern. He completed an internship at Baylor University Medical Center and then returned to UT Southwestern for a 3 year ophthalmology residency. After his residency, he completed a one year Fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Shulkin was then selected for a Fellowship at UT Southwestern in neuro-ophthalmology and ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery.
