  • Leave jewelry and valuables at home.
  • Bring all paperwork your physician may have given you regarding your surgery.

When you Arrive

Please arrive promptly at the time given. Along with the paperwork given to you at the doctor’s office, you will have a few other consent forms to sign. After you have registered with the front desk, the nursing staff will be able to answer any questions regarding surgery as they call you back to the pre-Operative area. Please remember your arrival time IS NOT your surgery time. For most procedures, we expect you to be here a total of about 2 hours. This could vary based on specific procedures and/or unexpected complications that could arise during the operation.

Anesthesia

Anesthesia services are provided by Anesthesiologists highly qualified in all aspects of out-patient anesthesia. Your Anesthesiologist will evaluate you before surgery and answer any questions you may have. The appropriate type of anesthesia will be determined by your surgeon in consultation with the Anesthesiologist. Different levels of anesthesia are required for various procedures.

Recovery

Immediately following surgery, you will be taken to our recovery area where you will be offered water, juice, and a light snack. Our nursing staff will then call your driver and go over all post-operative instructions. The amount of time you spend in recovery depends to a great degree of the type of surgery and/or anesthesia you had. The medical staff will discharge you when they are assured you are in stable condition. However, you may still feel sleepy, slightly dizzy, or nauseated. These are possible (and normal) side effects of anesthesia and can last up to 24 hours.
